Which Holidays Are We Open? We Close Two Days a Year.
2 October 2026 · 4 min read

Short version: we close on two holidays a year — Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day. Everything else on the calendar is a normal day with the doors open at 5:00am. New Year's Day is the single exception to the opening time: 6:00am instead of 5:00. And we are closed every Sunday, which is our week rather than a holiday.
The whole calendar, plainly
| Day | All three shops |
|---|---|
| Every Sunday | Closed |
| Halloween | Normal day, open 5:00am |
| Veterans Day | Normal day, open 5:00am |
| Thanksgiving Day | Closed |
| Christmas Eve | Normal day, open 5:00am |
| Christmas Day | Closed |
| New Year's Eve | Normal day, open 5:00am |
| New Year's Day | Open, but 6:00am |
| Every other public holiday | Normal day, open 5:00am |
Closing times differ by shop and by day of the week in the ordinary course of things — take those from the Spanish Fork, Ogden and St. George pages rather than from a directory listing.
The two we close, and what to do about them
Thanksgiving Day
Closed. This is the one worth planning around, because it is also the day people want the most from a bakery. Order for pickup on the Wednesday:
- Dinner rolls — $4.95 a dozen frozen, $6.95 a dozen baked. Frozen is the one to take if you want them hot on the day and have an oven free. There is a whole page on the rolls, and how many per person if you are guessing.
- Donuts for Thursday morning — cake donuts at $2.50 hold overnight far better than a raised glazed does. Which keeps and which does not.
- Give us notice. A day where you can, more for a big order. The Wednesday before Thanksgiving is the busiest ordering day of our year.
Christmas Day
Closed. Christmas Eve is a normal 5:00am day unless it falls on a Sunday, so that is when to collect anything for Christmas morning. Our boxes are branded, which saves wrapping something.
The one with a different opening time
New Year's Day: 6:00am, not 5:00am. One hour later, one day a year. It is the only variation in the opening time across the whole calendar, so it is the one worth knowing if you had planned to be first through the door. Take that day's closing time from the location page.
Sundays are not a holiday thing
All three shops are closed every Sunday of the year. It is not seasonal and it does not move. If Saturday is your only chance, note that Spanish Fork and St. George close earlier on Saturdays than mid-week, and the half-price-after-2:00pm deal runs Monday through Thursday only — so Saturday afternoon is not a half-off afternoon.
Where
- Spanish Fork — 1306 E Center St.
- Ogden — 554 Washington Blvd. Also home to The Soda Run, which is Ogden only.
- St. George — 922 E Brigham Rd. Open before six, like the others.
Everything is made that morning at every shop, holiday or not. That is the reason the two closures are closures: there is nobody in the kitchen at 3:00am on Christmas, so there is nothing honest to sell at five.
Common questions
Is The Donut Run open on holidays?
Almost all of them, yes. There are exactly two holidays we close: Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day. Every other public holiday is a normal day with a 5:00am open. New Year's Day is the one exception to the opening time — we open at 6:00am that morning instead of 5:00.
Are you open on Halloween?
Yes. Halloween is a normal day at all three shops, open at 5:00am. Nothing about the hours changes for it.
Are you open on Thanksgiving?
No. Thanksgiving Day is one of our two holiday closures. If you want dinner rolls or donuts for the day itself, order them for pickup the day before — rolls are $4.95 a dozen frozen or $6.95 a dozen baked.
Are you open on Christmas Day or Christmas Eve?
Closed on Christmas Day. Christmas Eve is not a closure, so unless it lands on a Sunday it is a normal 5:00am day. Collect anything you need for Christmas morning on the 24th.
What time do you open on New Year's Day?
6:00am, rather than our usual 5:00am. It is the only day of the year with a different opening time. Check the location page for that day's closing time.
Are you open on Sundays?
No. All three shops are closed every Sunday, year round. That is separate from holidays — it is simply our week.
