St. George, Utah

Where to get breakfast before 6am in St. George

If you are driving to Zion for sunrise, you are leaving town around five. Almost every bakery and coffee shop in St. George opens at six. We open at five.

Our St. George shop is at 922 E Brigham Rd, and the doors open at 5:00am Monday through Saturday. The first trays of donuts are already out. The kolaches — sausage, egg and cheese, or bacon, egg, cheese and potato — are the ones to take with you, because you can eat them with one hand on the drive up.

Why 5:00am matters here

  • Zion is about 40 minutes away. Leaving at five puts you at the trailhead near first light, which is the whole reason to go early.
  • The shuttle queues build fast. An hour saved in the morning is an hour you are not standing in line.
  • Nothing else is open. This is the practical point. Coffee and a hot breakfast at five in St. George is a short list.

What to take

  • Large kolaches — a full breakfast that survives a car journey.
  • A dozen donuts if there are a few of you. Buy 10, get 2 free.
  • Perks coffee, from a local roaster, brewed fresh.
