What Is Open at 5am in Utah County? Here Is One Thing

Not much. That is the honest answer, and it is the reason this page exists. The Donut Run in Spanish Fork opens at 5:00am, Monday through Saturday — 1306 E Center St, with donuts coming out of the fryer and kolaches out of the oven.
Who is actually up at five
Quite a lot of Utah County, as it turns out. Crews heading to a job site. People driving to Salt Lake who want to be north of the point before traffic. Nurses and plant workers on early shifts. Anyone who has to be somewhere at six and would rather not do it on an empty stomach.
Most of what you would call breakfast does not start until six or seven. That gap is the whole reason we open when we do — not as a gimmick, but because there are people awake and nowhere to go.
What is ready at five
This is the part that matters: 5:00am is the start of the day, not the end of yesterday. The fryer has been going since well before the door opens. What is in the case at five is the first of the morning.

If you are only getting one thing and you have a physical day ahead, make it a large kolache. It is bread wrapped around a proper breakfast and it eats with one hand.
Getting there from around the county
Spanish Fork sits at the south end of Utah County, and Center Street is the main east–west road through town.
- From Provo or Orem — south on I-15, roughly twenty minutes at that hour because there is nobody on the road.
- From Springville or Mapleton — ten minutes or so.
- From Payson or Salem — north, about the same.
- Heading to Salt Lake — it is on your way if you are coming from the south end of the county, and you will be back on I-15 in five minutes.

If you are buying for other people
Call ahead. We bake to the morning rather than to a target, so a big order that has not been phoned in may not be sitting there waiting at five. A day's notice is plenty.

Why do you open at 5:00am?
Because that is when the people who need breakfast are leaving the house. Shift workers, crews heading to a site, people driving to Salt Lake. The donuts are fried through the early morning, so 5:00am is not leftovers — it is the first of the day.
Is there coffee at the Spanish Fork shop?
Yes — drip coffee. The Perks specialty coffee is at our Ogden and St. George shops. Both are coffee; they are just not the same coffee.
