Do You Have Gluten Free Donuts? The Honest Answer, and What Is In Ours

29 September 2026 · 3 min read

Short answer: no, nothing at The Donut Run is gluten free, and all of our donuts contain dairy, wheat and egg. That is straight from the owner, and we would rather you read it here than find out after driving across town at six in the morning.

Why we are putting this on the website

It is the question we get asked that has the highest cost of being wrong. Somebody who avoids gluten because it makes their day unpleasant loses an hour. Somebody with coeliac disease loses rather more than that. Neither of them is served by a donut shop that is vague and hopeful about it, so here is the plain version.

What we know, and what we are not going to guess at

We make raised glazed, cake donuts, old fashioneds, buttermilk bars, cronuts, Persians, Bismarks, long johns, cinnamon twists, specialty donuts and custom decorated donuts. Every one of them contains dairy, wheat and egg. Our kolaches are savoury fillings baked inside a wheat dough, so they are in the same position.

What we are not going to do is publish a list of what else is or is not in them. We have not confirmed anything about nuts, soy, seeds or shared equipment, and an allergen answer that somebody made up to look thorough is worse than no answer at all. If your question is about a specific ingredient beyond gluten, dairy, wheat or egg, ring the shop you are heading to and ask the person who will actually be handing you the box.

The parts of the menu that are not baked goods

If you are with someone who cannot eat what we make, the drinks side of the counter is still open to them. Fresh ground coffee is $2.50 and hot chocolate is $2.50. Our Ogden shop also runs The Soda Run, a dirty soda counter in the same shop, and our Ogden and St. George shops pour Perks specialty coffee.

Common questions

Do you have gluten free donuts?

No. Nothing we make is gluten free. We would rather tell you that here than have you drive to Spanish Fork, Ogden or St. George and find out at the counter.

Do your donuts contain dairy, wheat and egg?

Yes. All of our donuts contain dairy, wheat and egg. That is confirmed by the owner and it applies across the whole case, not to some items only.

Do you have anything vegan or dairy free?

Not among the donuts — they all contain dairy and egg. If you are avoiding a specific ingredient, call the shop you are heading to and ask the counter directly before you order.

What about nuts, soy or other allergens?

We do not publish a claim about those, because we have not confirmed one, and an allergen answer we guessed at is worse than no answer. Call the shop and ask. The numbers are on our locations page.

Is anything on the menu made without wheat?

Nothing we make is gluten free, and our kolaches are baked in the same wheat dough. Our drinks — coffee, hot chocolate and the dirty sodas at our Ogden counter — are the part of the menu that is not a baked good.
