Custom Donuts in Utah: Birthday Boxes, Holiday Orders and Office Mornings
3 September 2026 · 6 min read
Custom donuts at The Donut Run are $3.00 each, or $36.00 a dozen, decorated by hand in our own kitchen. Call the shop you want to pick up from and give us a day's notice where you can. That is the whole answer — the rest of this is what we can actually make, and what to ask for.
What "custom" means here
It means somebody in our kitchen decorates them for your order, rather than you picking from whatever is in the case. Colours to match a party. Hearts in February. Pastels and Peeps at Easter. Green and gold in March. A team logo in the right colours for a Monday meeting.
We are a donut shop, not a bakery specialising in photo-printed icing, and it is worth being straight about that. What we do well is colour, icing, sprinkles, drizzle and shape. What we cannot do is edible photo prints or intricate sugar work. If your idea is closer to a decorated cake than a decorated donut, we will tell you on the phone rather than let you find out at pickup.
Holidays we already make boxes for
- Valentine's Day — heart-shaped donuts, iced and lettered. This is our busiest custom day of the year by some distance.
- Easter — pastel icing, spring colours, Peeps on top.
- St Patrick's Day — green icing, gold coins, shamrocks.
- Halloween and Christmas — seasonal colours and shapes.
- Birthdays, all year — the most common custom order we take, and the easiest to turn around.
On the big holidays, order early. Valentine's and Easter mornings sell through what we have made, and once a batch is gone there is no second batch that day.
How much notice we need
For a dozen, a day is usually plenty. For several dozen, or for a specific colour scheme, give us two or three days. For Valentine's Day, order the week before.
Here is the honest constraint: we bake and fry every morning starting long before the doors open at 5:00am, and custom decorating happens around that. The earlier we know, the more of your order gets made properly rather than squeezed in.
What it costs
- Custom donut — $3.00 each
- Custom donut by the dozen — $36.00
- Specialty donuts from the case — $2.75 each, $27.50 the dozen
Every dozen at The Donut Run is buy ten, get two free. That applies to custom orders the same as anything else — a dozen custom donuts is twelve donuts at the price of ten.
If your budget is tighter than a full custom box, a good middle option is a mixed box: half custom decorated for the photo, half glazed and assorted for the people who just want a donut. It looks like an occasion and costs considerably less.
Office and team mornings
The most common working order we take is two or three dozen for a morning meeting, picked up on the way in. If that is you, two things worth knowing.
First, mix in kolaches. A box of donuts is a treat; a box that is half savoury kolaches is breakfast. Half and half is the order that leaves nobody hungry, and large kolaches are $49.50 a dozen.
Second, pick your shop by your route, not by which is nearest the office. We open at 5:00am at all three, which means you can collect before almost anything else in town is open.
